After all the current changes that are drafting the whole world to a dangerous curve which are mainly caused by the world freedom and rights pretenders, after the international community witnessed who are the real heroes and the true figures who are fighting for people’s rights, prosperity and justice, more questions are raised about the Human Rights in Islam. Is Islam a just religion? Are human rights changeable over time or is it changeable from one gender to another?
Instead of answering all these thorny questions, let us have an overview of what Allah said in His Holy Book,
Allah commands justice, goodness, and generosity towards relatives. And He forbids immorality, injustice, and oppression. He instructs you, so that you may remember.
Surah an-Nahl
There are no discrimination, oppression, and apartheid in Islam, Allah gave the Prophet Muhammed and all the Muslims a crystal command to be unbiased and just. The Prophet Muhammed taught all humanity that human is honored and shall be honored forever. He shall not be detained, dishonored or treated in a way against his human nature. Allah said,
”وَلَقَدۡ كَرَّمۡنَا بَنِيٓ ءَادَمَ”
”And indeed We have honoured the Children of Adam”
Thus, any action that goes against his humanity and dignity is essentially rejected, and any action that protects his rights and welfare is supported under the banner of Islam. Not only do human beings have the right not to be harmed, they have the right to be safeguarded from harm, physical or otherwise.
Whoever looks into the human rights in Islam, would realize that they are eternal and legitimate rights. They are unchangeable during the course of time. These rules and regulations are self-protected as they are made by Allah, The All-Wise, the All-Knowing. The word ‘human being’ includes, both, male and female. The honor that has been granted by Allah (SWT) is enjoyed by both, man and woman, equally. A woman’s dignity is equal to man’s dignity. Even in wartime, Islam enjoins the solider who goes to war. Enemy soldiers and prisoners of war are not to be tortured or mutilated under any circumstances. Islam has also drawn a clear line of distinction between combatants and non-combatants. The Prophet Muhammed said ”Do not kill a decrepit old man, or a young infant, or a woman; …, do right and act well, for God loves those who do well”.
We can comfortably said that what the mode of rights in Islam can never be found in other books of freedom or international ”Laws”. The laws of Islam can have a great impact upon humanity and can offer people magnificent shapes of forms all over areas of life.
